Health and Travel Insurance

Health and Travel Insurance

All international students must have health and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.

Why do I need insurance?

Health and travel insurance is important to avoid unwanted, high costs relating to medical care and life events while studying abroad.

The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 requires all international students to have appropriate health and travel insurance during their period of study.

New Zealand Aviation Academy requires all enrolled international students to have approved health and travel insurance for the duration of enrolment (regardless of the visa type).

A student visa holder is also required to have approved health and travel insurance for the length of visa or until they depart New Zealand, whichever comes first.

Accident Insurance

The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all NZ citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, however, you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at ACC - Home.
